International English Language Testing System: IELTS

The IELTS score is widely accepted as proof of English language proficiency for higher education in most countries, such as the UK, the US, Australia, Canada, and New Zealand. The maximum band score is 9.0, with universities generally requiring a minimum of 6.0 for undergraduate programs and 6.0 to 7.0 for postgraduate programs. The IELTS exam is offered in two different formats. 

Academic

The IELTS Academic module assesses your English language proficiency to ensure you have the skills required to pursue a degree program or professional training. Students aiming to enrol in a university or higher education institution are required to take the Academic module. 

General Training

The General Training module is designed for individuals looking to enrol in a secondary school, take a short course or vocational training program, or those seeking immigration opportunities. 

Test pattern

The IELTS test is divided into four parts: 

  • Listening: 4 sections; 30 minutes
  • Reading: 3 passages; 60 minutes
  • Writing: 2 tasks; 60 minutes
  • Speaking: Interview; 10-15 minutes
